From the depths of Europe!
Here is a quick summary of my learnings while visiting England and the netherlands (after leaving for the Americas at the beginning of this year.
1. Beware the Hertz Neverlost Navigation System.
Prehaps it was a strong sense of irony that lead them to call this neverlost…. over the course of ONE day we got misdirected at least 4 times, which isn’t fun in the northeast of England. (especially on a tight timescale)
2. Ritazza Coffee is far too bitter.
And I thought Starbuck’s had a bitter blend.
3. The fish and chips of the south east of england are superior to those found in the north east.
Also london is suprisingly lacking in Fish and Chip shops. Conversely the Ales found in the north east are superior to those found in the south.
4. Newcastle International Airport has a surprisingly Large departures area.
5. The police at Schipol airport use segways.
Unfortunately I was not fast enough to catch a picture of them zipping about.
6. The Immigration and homeland security guys are much nicer when traveling through the US citizens and Green Cards line.
Plus I didn’t have to fill in any pesky forms!
I have returned to New York with a previously unknown respect for my chosen place of residence.
